  • Humane societies are preparing for kitten season as warmer weather brings more kittens outdoors & higher reproduction adds strain on shelters. The Humane Educational Society is recruiting new foster homes and warning that kitten napping, where people remove kittens even when their mother returns, creates extra challenges.  News Channel 9
  • After a stormy weekend with heavy rain and strong winds, local tulip farms resumed operations for visitors. Ooltewah Tulips reopened Monday with limited hours and operated Tuesday on normal times—while Lorenzen Farm will open Wednesday with regular hours.  Local 3 News

  • The Hamilton County Clerk’s Office issued new business licenses between March 10th and 14th—examples include a hibachi restaurant and a candle company—in Chattanooga.  Chattanooga Times Free Press

CRIME NEWS

  • Rick Davis, owner of Rick Davis Gold and Diamonds—located on Brainerd Road—will appear May 1 in two Hamilton County courtrooms on charges of passing worthless checks and stealing property from multiple people, and he is free on bond.  Chattanooga Times Free Press
  • Billy Dewayne Massengale, 48, was arrested Friday night on outstanding warrants and is being questioned in connection with the homicide of Danny Durham, 66, whose body was found on March 9 at a home on Big Rock Road near Prentice Cooper State Forest.  Chattanooga Times Free Press

  • According to the Signal Mountain Fire Department, crews contained the 218-acre fire on Mullins Cove Road in Prentice Cooper State Forest this morning—officials said no further updates will be provided as they monitor for remaining hotspots.  Local 3 News
