  • Early Thursday morning, firefighters helped deliver a baby girl on a clogged Interstate 24 near the Germantown Road exit when the family called 911 from their stalled vehicle. The mother, baby, and family were quickly transported to a hospital and are in good condition.  News Channel 9

CRIME NEWS

  • Sequatchie County family is left with questions after 18-year-old Billy Floyd was found dead in a trash can with stab wounds following an alleged affair with Jonathan Belk’s wife—Belk was arrested and now faces homicide charges with a bond hearing scheduled for today.  News Channel 9
  • The family of Deward Burton Johnson, a 52-year-old man arrested on March 14 for shoplifting last year, has filed a lawsuit alleging that Hamilton County and Sheriff Austin Garrett were negligent when he was left in a cell without water and received delayed care during a drug-related medical emergency that led to his death—staff waited over 30 minutes to respond even as inmates raised an alarm.  News Channel 9

  • Senator Bo Watson introduced Senate Bill 1371 to regulate sober living homes with a distance requirement from primary schools, preschools and daycares and a mandate for clinical referrals before placement. CADAS will break ground on 16 new sober living apartments today—designed to provide a supportive recovery environment.  Local 3 News
  • Residents in Red Bank can request free smoke detector checks and installations from the city's fire department by calling 423-269-7945 or visiting its website—Scenic City residents can call the Chattanooga Fire Department at 423-643-5600 or check if their local department participates in the Get Alarmed, TN program.  Local 3 News

  • Blood Assurance is facing a critical shortage of multiple blood types needed by local hospitals and is urging residents to donate as soon as possible—each donation can save up to three lives and comes with incentives like a chance to win a $500 e-gift card or a $25 token for O negative and AB plasma donors.  Local 3 News
