- ➤ On April 9th, 1947, Southern Coach Lines began the final mass transit trolley ride on the Boyce streetcar line at 11:40 p.m. in East Chattanooga—many riders gathered, prompting the company to add a second car for the event. Chattanooga Times Free Press
- ➤ Local writer and director Mark Anderson premiered his film Chattown Chatta at the Barking Legs Theater, where it shows interviews with people who lost their homes. - ➤ Hamilton County Schools found that students who attended district pre-K outperformed peers who did not attend regardless of economic background. At Hardy Elementary, teacher Shaquita Ruiz led a class exercise where young students identified the beginning sound of a word to show early reading skills. Chattanooga Times Free Press
- ➤ Chattanooga School for Liberal Arts principal Krystal Scarbrough is retiring at the end of the academic year after 16 years at the school and 30 years in Hamilton County schools. Mary Catherine Gatlin, current principal at Loftis Middle School, will take over as the school prepares to graduate its first senior class this May—Scarbrough said she plans to remain active in serving her community after retirement. - ➤ The UTC women’s basketball team finished with a 17-15 record last season and will work to keep its core players, improve health and add a quality recruit for its 2025-26 campaign. - ➤ Chattanooga fitness instructor Jere Hartman leads a team of veterans who are training for a 2,800-mile row from California to Hawaii in June to raise awareness about veteran mental health.
