- ➤ More than two dozen Chattanooga business owners condemned a proposed bill that would require proof of legal residence for public school enrollment, calling the move economically reckless—saying it could burden schools and hurt local services. The bill, co-sponsored by Sen. Bo Watson and House Leader William Lamberth, may force schools to charge tuition or deny education to students who cannot verify their status.
