- ➤ Animal Protection Officers at McKamey Animal Center found six puppies in a dumpster on April 8 and the puppies are safe after being left during severe weather, though they were covered in trash & dirt. The center asks local residents to help by fostering the puppies and donating supplies such as puppy formula, potty pads, towels, sheets, blankets & pillowcases. Local 3 News

- ➤ A Hamilton County contractor, Ezra Crowder, was arrested Tuesday at a home on Daisy Dallas Road after he was paid $2,500 to extend a concrete driveway but only dug three holes and left, prompting the homeowner to send a refund request by certified mail—authorities charged him with a home improvement contractor violation. - ➤ LaJeffery Romane Sparks was identified as the suspect in a shooting on last October 5th that fatally injured a 42-year-old man outside his home—police say the reward is now $7500 and urge anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers—while warning that the armed suspect should not be approached. - ➤ Hamilton County principals announced on Wednesday that they oppose a proposed bill which would let schools deny enrollment for undocumented students + they urged the county school board to pass a resolution ensuring public education for every child. Chattanooga Times Free Press
- ➤ The Tennessee House passed a bill that would require public schools to teach the 'success sequence'—a plan that highlights graduating high school, working or going to college, marrying and having children—and now the bill is sent to Governor Bill Lee’s desk for his signature. Educators will begin teaching the sequence as family life education starting in the 2026-27 school year if the bill is signed. Chattanooga Times Free Press

- ➤ The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation was honored with the 2024 Organizational Partner of the Year award by Tennessee RiverLine for its work to expand outdoor recreation and conserve natural resources—its initiatives include creating the Tennessee Outdoor Partnership and the Office of Outdoor Recreation.
