EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lawmakers may delay the school immigration bill until next year because of funding questions—this bill would let schools charge tuition or deny education for undocumented children. Supporters still hope to bring it to a floor vote before the session ends next week.  Chattanooga Times Free Press
  • Dozens of parents gathered at CSAS Wednesday to question Hamilton County officials about planned cuts to transportation for 11 magnet schools under the 2025-26 budget aimed at saving $18 million — parents warned that the cuts would hurt student access while officials stressed the need to reduce costs. School board members and county officials will continue budget discussions at today's meeting to address funding challenges.  News Channel 9

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health inspectors from Hamilton, Catoosa and Walker counties reported that several Chattanooga area restaurants received low scores for the week ending April 15 due to serious safety and hygiene issues such as bare-handed chopping and improper food storage — with Rain Thai Bistro scoring 74 and establishments like The Hummus Bowl and Hunan Wok scoring 83.
