  • After nearly a decade trotting downtown, beloved carriage horses Maverick and Dory retired from Chattanooga Carriage Company. Dory will live in a peaceful pasture in Georgia and Maverick—who pulled nearly 1,000 carriages—will teach children riding at Deer Creek Ranch, marking an end of an era.  News Channel 9
  • The Chattanooga Market kicked off its 25th season today by opening its gates to local shoppers who enjoy fresh produce + handmade goods, live music and local flavor. The event has been a beloved weekend tradition and is expected to attract large crowds this season.  Local 3 News
  • Linda Hershey, a Chattanooga grandmother, led a grassroots network of community volunteers—church members, activists, and high school students—to build 61 bus stop benches and assemble 25 more that will serve CARTA stops after she built her first bench in honor of her daughter in the fall.   • Retired oceanographer Greg Miller, who moved to Chattanooga with his wife for retirement, went on peritoneal dialysis after tests showed his kidney function dropped sharply and doctors could not find a cause—he now is on several transplant lists and joins 3,000 others statewide in need of a life-saving organ.   • Emily Kramer-Golinkoff, a 40-year-old with advanced cystic fibrosis from a rare mutation, struggles to breathe and perform daily tasks as common drugs do not work for her.
