- ➤ A group of Ford investors sent a letter asking the board to address reports of union-busting at a Kentucky battery plant and poor community outreach at its BlueOval City project in Tennessee. The 14 investors representing over $58 billion in assets urged Ford to reply at its virtual annual shareholders meeting today—while the company maintains it meets labor law requirements. - ➤ A Chickamauga woman aged 58 was arrested after a code enforcement officer visiting her home on Gentry Road found 12 dogs and 10 chickens living in unsanitary conditions, leading to charges of 22 counts of animal cruelty and 10 counts of failing to control rabies. Local 3 News

- ➤ Cole Alford, a Hixson fourth grader, won first place in the 4-6 grade Tennessee Junior Duck Stamp Contest for his cinnamon teal painting chosen from 1,464 entries. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Chattanooga’s landfill is almost full so the city spends about $4.5 million every year sending trash to other sites—costs that have led the mayor’s office to propose an expansion to add capacity. The city council will review the plan at meetings on May 13 and 20 with a final vote on June 10—officials say the expansion would cost about $10 million and take 18 months. News Channel 9
- ➤ A new city ordinance now gives the Chattanooga Fire Department the power to declare a building a total loss and demolish it—speeding up the process and reducing safety risks for both citizens and firefighters. The rule lets the fire chief or fire marshal act when most of a structure is compromised, replacing the slower code inspector review process. News Channel 9

- ➤ Erlanger Children's Hospital received a $1.27 million donation from an anonymous physician today to boost its care for children in the region. The generous gift will enhance daily services and support the hospital's long legacy of service. Local 3 News

- ➤ Chattanooga Football Club announced that it will fully fund its MLS NEXT U13-U15 teams to remove financial barriers and create a pathway for young players to reach professional levels. - ➤ Baylor School recently announced that Sean Russell is the new head wrestling coach after a national search. Russell, a former NCAA competitor and local wrestling program organizer — including RTC South and the Minion Training Center — is set to build on the Red Raiders’ record of 20 state championships.
