- ➤ The University of Tennessee board of trustees appointed Lori Mann Bruce as UTC's new chancellor—the first woman in the role—and she will start on June 30. - ➤ A jury convicted former House Speaker Glen Casada and his ex-aide Cothren on corruption charges tied to a secret company that misused state funds for mailers—both are out on bond until sentencing on Sept. 12 as their lawyers plan to appeal the verdict. Chattanooga Times Free Press
- ➤ Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp announced that the County Efficiency Task Force recommended saving $3.7 million now and expects $50.5 million in long-term savings.
