CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Chattanooga Police arrested 19-year-old Roberto Carlos Meja-Chakate and 23-year-old Jerry Juarez-Bernabe for first-degree murder after they shot three people near a bar parking lot on May 17—one victim died while two others were injured and taken to the hospital. Local 3 News
- ➤ The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation identified 21-year-old Alricko Trimble, Jr. as the man fatally shot by Chattanooga police last week at Hamilton Place mall when officers tried to make contact with a vehicle and the fleeing driver rammed cars, causing one passenger to be hospitalized and later released while two officers are on administrative leave (Trimble had previous police encounters). - ➤ Ridgeland High School principal James Morrison said a Snapchat account posting threatening messages—shared with the Walker County Sheriff's Office—led school administrators to ask parents to check students' social media as law enforcement investigates. Local 3 News

- ➤ Mayor Weston Wamp presented his proposed 2026 Hamilton County budget on Monday, which totals $1.095 billion—a 4.2% increase from last year—and said it focuses on public safety, roads, and careful spending; the county commission will vote on it in June so it can run from July 1 to June 30.
