- ➤ Chattanooga is hosting several events to mark the 160th anniversary of Juneteenth, which commemorates when enslaved African Americans first learned of their freedom in 1865. The celebrations span from June 7—with a wreath-laying at the national cemetery—to events like parades and cultural programs through June 21, offering local residents a range of ways to honor this important day. - ➤ Hamilton County attorney Alan Christopher Norton—who represented former Chattanooga Police Chief Celeste Murphy—was permanently disbarred after he faced forgery and criminal simulation charges and could not defend against the allegations. Chattanooga Times Free Press
- ➤ The Tennessee Department of General Services dropped a 160-acre property in Eastdale from consideration for a new mental health facility to replace Moccasin Bend & state officials said they will continue evaluating other sites & work with the Hamilton County legislative delegation to choose a better location. - ➤ The state announced that the Eastdale site is no longer being considered for the new mental health facility to replace Moccasin Bend and that officials will continue reviewing other sites.
