- ➤ After Saturday’s severe storms, Chattanooga residents came together to clear debris and remove fallen trees—neighbors worked side by side to tidy up damaged properties and support each other. Local 3 News
- ➤ Ridgedale Baptist Church celebrated a groundbreaking on Sunday for The Haven House for Children — a new transitional home providing foster kids a safe place to stay while the department finds them placements. - ➤ A 52-year-old man died Sunday after a motorcycle crash on Honest Street when one motorcycle lost control and collided with a second, and police are investigating the incident and asking anyone with information to call 423-698-2525. Chattanooga Times Free Press
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A jury in Hamilton County convicted Chattanooga man Gabriel Boykins of second-degree murder for fatally strangling and bluntly force-killing a woman and her 8-year-old daughter after they went missing in May 2020 — he is scheduled to be sentenced on August 20th. News Channel 9
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The UT Board of Trustees will meet on July 1 to discuss a plan to raise tuition and fees for state students at UT Chattanooga and four other campuses. For UT Chattanooga, tuition may rise from $8,458 to $8,712 and fees from $1,990 to $2,050 for the next school year with residents invited to comment until June 23—officials say the proposal aims to maintain affordable education. - ➤ Several local law enforcement agencies are contesting in Tennessee’s 5th Annual Best-Looking Cruiser Contest, with online voting open until June 20 at 5:00 p.m. Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, which won in 2021 and 2024, submitted a new Chevrolet Tahoe photo and aims for a 3-2 record in the contest—voters can help decide the winner.
