- ➤ Chattanooga and nearby communities will host a series of Independence Day events, including Pops on the River at Coolidge Park on July 3 beginning at 4:00 p.m.—with live music, food trucks, and hints of fireworks—and a Chattanooga Lookouts fireworks display at AT&T Field on July 4 starting at 7:15 p.m. Additional celebrations in Soddy Daisy and Lakesite on July 5 will feature family activities and pyrotechnic shows along with Catoosa County’s Fireworks Fest that will showcase a 20-minute music-themed display. - ➤ A Cleveland, Tennessee man faces 13 felony charges after he allegedly threatened Hamilton County judges with harassing phone calls, according to the sheriff’s office. Darrell Bracket, 58, was arrested Tuesday at the courthouse—he now faces counts of harassment, aggravated stalking, terrorism and retaliation. Chattanooga Times Free Press

- ➤ Last week, EPA officials visited Erlanger Park and the Foundries District to learn how Chattanooga and Hamilton County are reusing an old industrial site to build a mixed-use stadium. They said decades of work with TDEC and local owners helped remove pollution—making the land safe for future plans. Local 3 News

- ➤ Tennessee lawmakers passed a law that will protect access to in vitro fertilization and birth control, making the state the only one in the South with these safeguards. Gov. Bill Lee signed the measure and it will take effect on July 1 (after a close debate in the House) as lawmakers work to secure reproductive care for future families. Chattanooga Times Free Press
- ➤ Former officer Brandon Alan Miller sued the Soddy Daisy Police Department, naming the city, City Manager Burt Johnson, Police Chief Bill Petty + former Police Chief Mike Sneed, and claimed he was fired and demoted for reporting alleged law violations by city officials to the District Attorney's Office. He said the retaliation created a hostile work environment and led to new hearings in an internal investigation. Local 3 News
- ➤ Hamilton County Commissioners tabled a vote on the RPC's 'Plan Hamilton'—a proposal to regulate growth by limiting home development, road work and sewer installation—citing concerns for preserving the county’s rural character.
