  • The Collegedale community will host a canned food drive today from 11:00am to 1:00pm during Shop on Main's Sizzlin Summer Sale to help local families in need—Commissioner Laura Howse and Vice Mayor Tonya Sadler will join the event at the Apison Food Pantry to gather nonperishable items and clean plastic grocery bags.  Local 3 News
  • Families will attend Butterflies Week at Enterprise South Nature Park on June 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.—the free event hosted by Hamilton County Parks and Recreation offers hands-on butterfly activities, including planting a mini butterfly garden with provided supplies.  Chattanooga CW

CRIME NEWS

  • Chattanooga police are investigating self-defense claims after a double homicide on Dodson Avenue Thursday evening when two men were shot and later pronounced dead at the hospital; authorities are working with the Hamilton County District Attorney's Office and urge anyone with information to call the Homicide Tip Line at 423-643-5100.  Local 3 News

  • A guide explains that fireworks laws in the TN Valley will vary by state for the July 4 celebration. In Tennessee, authorities will ban certain fireworks, enforce a minimum purchase age of 16, and allow lighting in Hamilton County until 12:30 a.m. + similar rules apply in Alabama, Georgia and North Carolina.  Local 3 News
