- ➤ Chattanooga officials announced the Eastdale Community Center is being renamed the Jessie Igou Community Center to honor her long service to the local area. A ceremony will be held Tuesday, July 1 at 11:00 a.m.—Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly and community leaders will speak. Local 3 News
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A small plane crashed in a field on the east side of Dunlap around 6:25 p.m. Tuesday, injuring both occupants who were taken to area hospitals—authorities said the accident happened near a private airstrip and the FAA and NTSB are investigating. Chattanooga Times Free Press
- ➤ A man and his dog safely escaped a burning home on the 800 block of Intermont Drive in Hixson at about 5 a.m. Wednesday—the heavy black smoke and hillside location challenged firefighters—but they later put out the fire with no injuries reported. News Channel 9

- ➤ Sanel Durakovic was arrested on June 25 for the premeditated first-degree murder of hairstylist Patrick Godwin, who was shot on January 7, 2020 along the 8500 block of Horseshoe Bend Lane in Ooltewah — he is now held at Hamilton County Jail awaiting trial. Local 3 News
- ➤ Chloie Leverette and Gage Daniel have remained missing for nearly 13 years after a house fire at their grandparents' home in Unionville, with new age progression photos showing Chloie is 22 today and Gage will soon turn 20—authorities continue to pursue leads in this Tennessee AMBER alert. - ➤ Tennessee’s new universal tuition grant program does not ask families to report previous school enrollment so officials can’t tell if most funds go to students already in private schools—critics say this gap hides important data about the program’s impact as over 33,000 applications were received in mid-May.
