- ➤ Chattanooga will offer a new three-month pilot program starting August 1 that gives free parking credits to residents with a valid city sticker, with registration open until July 25. The Chattanooga Parking Authority and CARTA plan to improve downtown parking access and support local businesses — drivers must choose from four credit packages and use their credits within each month. - ➤ Chattanooga Parking Authority and the city will launch a three‑month pilot that offers free parking to residents who pay a $5 city sticker tax on vehicle registration, with registration open from July 11-25 for a program beginning on Aug. 1. - ➤ TDOT announced a $246 million plan to widen a 10-mile section of I-24, adding two lanes and expanding travel lanes and shoulders from I-59 in Dade County to US Highway 27 near downtown Chattanooga. Construction will begin in 2027 after environmental studies, with plans to replace 14 bridges — 12 in Tennessee and 2 in Georgia — and public feedback scheduled for early 2026. Local 3 News
