- ➤ Chattanooga Airport announced that Allegiant Air will resume nonstop flights to Punta Gorda in October — flights will operate on Thursdays and Sundays with the first flight on October 2. Tickets are available online with introductory fares starting at $49 one-way. Local 3 News
- ➤ Volkswagen is exploring plans to produce Audi and Porsche vehicles at its Chattanooga plant to avoid proposed tariffs. Insiders said the current facility, in operation for over 13 years, may cut construction time and costs and could produce 150,000 to 200,000 vehicles a year—making it a top choice for the automaker. - ➤ Lebron Collier turned himself in Thursday after he was charged with second-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and reckless endangerment in connection with the killing of a 15-year-old on Read Ave—joining Mauricio Velasquez and Malik Allen who are already in custody. Local 3 News
- ➤ Carlos Alejandro Quintana, 24, was arrested after a daylong manhunt for a fatal shooting on Tell Street in Athens that killed 17-year-old Matthew Rackley & wounded another, and he now faces charges including first-degree murder while held on a $1 million bond. Chattanooga Times Free Press

- ➤ TDOT will temporarily close street parking and lanes on Market Street in downtown Chattanooga starting Monday for resurfacing work, with crews working overnight from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Aug. 10—15. Chattanooga Times Free Press
- ➤ The city will fully close sections of John Ross Rd in East Ridge for underground manhole liner installation starting Monday, August 11 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.—the work is expected to finish by mid-week. Drivers must follow posted detour signs as one route follows Sunrise Terrace to Cherokee Avenue and the other via Coleman Circle to Edwards Terrace—flaggers will guide traffic and work may be delayed by weather.
