- ➤ Ivy Academy, an outdoor learning-based school, has joined local residents in opposing a proposed asphalt plant less than a mile away that could risk community health and harm a nearby state park + increase noise and traffic. The City of Soddy Daisy will hold a public hearing on August 13 at 9:00 a.m. at the Municipal Building while over 1,700 people sign an online petition against the project. Local 3 News

- ➤ A Chattanooga School Safety Officer (Brittani King) who falsely claimed to be a School Resource Officer on Lookout Mountain was arrested Friday just after 6:30 p.m. on Van Dyke Street after reports of a roommate dispute, and she now faces charges of domestic assault and impersonating a police officer. - ➤ Guests at Motel 6 on Lee Hwy said they heard gunshots and witnessed chaos on Friday night—police later arrested Guster Harfield after he fatally shot a 43-year-old man in the parking lot. Local 3 News
- ➤ An argument escalated to gunfire in a restaurant parking lot in the 5600 block of Ringgold Road in East Ridge Sunday afternoon—no one was injured and police said the armed suspect left before officers arrived. Local 3 News

- ➤ Chattanooga City Council has expanded a senior tax freeze program so older residents earning up to $60,000 can lock in their current property tax rate when they apply by April next year. City officials said that because the deadline for freezing the 2024 tax rate has passed, more seniors will not be able to apply this year—future changes are still being considered.
