- ➤ The Hamilton County Fair will take place Nov. 7th to 9th at McDonald Farm at 16705 Coulterville Road in Sale Creek and will feature performances by country singer Brandon Davis and Grammy Award-winning band Diamond Rio on Nov. 7th. Contemporary country singer Amber Carrington and Christian musician Jason Crabb will perform on Nov. 8th—while the fair also offers rides, a lumberjack show and a rodeo. Chattanooga Times Free Press
- ➤ Ocean, a seven-year-old Pit Bull/Terrier mix available for adoption at the Humane Educational Society of Chattanooga—she loves following her people and could soon find a new home. Local 3 News

- ➤ About 40 dogs, along with some cats and a pig, were placed in foster care in Grundy County after an alleged neglect incident forced shelters to turn away more animals—veterinarians in Signal Mountain and Scottsboro treated the rescued animals—and one rescued puppy later tested positive for parvo. - ➤ A Chattanooga school security officer, Brittani King, was arrested Friday, August 8 at her Van Dyke Street home for domestic assault and impersonating a police officer after she hit her roommate and knocked a phone from her hand—Hamilton County Schools said an alternate officer will now serve at Lookout Mountain Elementary. - ➤ Chattanooga police arrested Caleb Jeremy Askins on Sunday—he is accused of helping his brother remove his ankle monitor to provide an alibi for the shooting death of a 48-year-old man on Maryland Street in Hill City on August 29th—while his younger brother Samuel Askins and two 16-year-old boys also face charges. - ➤ Gov. Bill Lee said on Friday that Tennessee sought federal waivers to stop SNAP benefits from being used to buy soda and sugary processed foods while allowing purchase of hot prepared chicken—fried or breaded chicken cannot be bought. The move aims to help low-income families eat healthier and reduce long-term health problems as food benefits are set to drop with new work rules. Chattanooga Times Free Press
- ➤ Soddy-Daisy has raised its property tax rate by 21% for the 2026 fiscal year with the new rate set at $1.10 per $100 of assessed value (previously $0.09). City commissioners approved the change to generate about $1 million in new revenue each year and are exploring programs that may freeze rates for lower-income residents. Local 3 News
- ➤ Chattanooga officials are working to fund more than $18 million in raises for police and firefighters and are holding a committee meeting today to review budget cuts and tax options. Councilman Chip Henderson is leading the effort as the Mayor’s office supports a property tax proposal to meet the spending needs. News Channel 9
