COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Residents in Chattanooga are still recovering from last week’s flash flooding, which Hamilton County leaders called the worst flood since 1973 after nearly seven inches of rain caused heavy water damage. Community groups and Brainerd High School organized help for people who lost homes and belongings—volunteers, friends and neighbors provided needed support. News Channel 9

- ➤ Chattanooga man Darryl Roberts, convicted for murdering Christopher Wright on Market Street at point blank range, began his sentencing hearing Monday at Hamilton County Criminal Court—Wright’s mother and others delivered impact statements condemning his actions. News Channel 9
- ➤ UTC's Department of Public Safety warned students that drink spiking and sexual assault incidents were reported over the weekend (one case occurred at an off-campus party and another near Shady's Corner) and urged caution with campus resources. News Channel 9
- ➤ Chattanooga man Darryl Roberts was sentenced Monday to 90 years in prison for fatally shooting businessman Chris Wright outside Patten Towers on Sept. 28, 2023. Chattanooga Times Free Press
- ➤ Police say a 29-year-old man was fatally shot early Sunday morning at the 3200 block of Brainerd Road in Chattanooga in a targeted incident—officers are still searching for the suspect who fled on foot. News Channel 9
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ TVA has signed an agreement to buy up to 50 megawatts of power from Kairos Power’s molten salt reactor demonstration in Oak Ridge and will pass clean energy credits to Google’s local data centers starting in 2030. The project uses Generation IV technology —designed for higher safety and efficiency— to support growing energy needs. Chattanooga Times Free Press

- ➤ Tyner Middle High Academy opened Monday morning four years after students walked out to protest poor conditions, as county leaders, staff and students celebrated the new building that combines middle and high schools—featuring a theater, gyms and career pathways. - ➤ Chattanooga residents are worried about the deteriorating Wilcox Boulevard Bridge near Amnicola Highway, which has not started repairs despite a $25 million grant approved in 2022.
