- ➤ UTC sent an active shooter alert at 12:42 p.m. Thursday to staff and students, instructing them to run—hide—fight, and police later said there was no threat on campus and no victims were found. Chattanooga CW
- ➤ Nearly a year after a hazing incident at UTC, open records show that Kappa Sigma pledges took part in dangerous rituals such as setting themselves on fire and squeezing lemon juice in their eyes—two students suffered second-degree burns and had to be hospitalized, and Todd Shelton from the Hazing Prevention Network said power dynamics make these acts risky even if social media makes them seem fun. - ➤ After two years of corporate tax breaks, Tennessee’s corporate tax revenue dropped 15.8% (by $721.5 million) while sales tax collections increased 4.2% (by $596 million) to support its $59.8 billion budget.
