- ➤ A Chattanooga restaurant, Bela Lisboa, reopened last Friday after a fire in November 2024 forced its closure and damaged nearby businesses — investigators reported a Kia electric vehicle sparked the blaze. Co-owner Gabe Duncan said community support helped rebuild the restaurant, which now offers Mediterranean dishes, an extended wine list and a full bar to welcome customers like family. News Channel 9
- ➤ The Cam Run returns to Chattanooga to honor Cameron Bean—a local runner killed by a hit run driver near Moccasin Bend on Sept 21. The event will mark ten years since his death and bring the community together in remembrance. Local 3 News
- ➤ The Bean family hosted the annual Cameron Bean Legacy Run to honor his memory nearly 10 years after he was fatally struck while running. - ➤ Chattanooga airport reopened after a thorough terminal sweep turned up no threat following a bomb threat call on Sunday night—passengers on an American Airlines flight stayed on the tarmac for nearly 2 hours—officials said the airport is secure. Local 3 News
- ➤ Family of retired preacher Lester Isbill is fighting for justice after an updated autopsy report ruled his death in Monroe custody as homicide following his restraint in a chair for more than nine hours—Sheriff Tommy Jones suspended five correctional officers with pay after legal counsel advised action. - ➤ Weston Wamp said he will run for a second term as Hamilton County mayor in 2026 and will make his plans official at a Labor Day picnic at Chester Frost Park. He has worked to boost vocational education and invest in roads and schools, and U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn and Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs will join the event—supporting his bid. Local 3 News
- ➤ Several members of the Regional Planning Commission were fined by the Tennessee Ethics Commission for not filing their financial interests—two commissioners did not submit a required Statement of Disclosure of Interests form. Chattanooga Times Free Press
