CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Eleven people were arrested after a joint local and federal human trafficking sting in Collegedale last Thursday—charges include solicitation of a minor and patronizing prostitution, with eight suspects facing extra counts for attempting sexual activity with children. News Channel 9
- ➤ East Ridge police are investigating a deadly double shooting on Roper Street Monday evening in the 5700 block after officers found two people with multiple gunshot wounds—one killed by a headshot and the other taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Local 3 News
- ➤ A Chattanooga man named Jakel Woods, 22, was indicted on first-degree murder charges after he allegedly shot Keenan Glenn on East Brainerd Road on March 25, leaving Glenn paralyzed before he died two months later—Woods also faced charges for reckless endangerment and firearm possession. - ➤ Today the Hamilton County School Board met to decide if four school buildings will be fixed up or torn down—Orchard Knob Middle School, Clifton Hills Elementary, Normal Park Museum Magnet School, and The Howard School were all discussed. Board members said plans include expanding Orchard Knob so students can keep learning during work and possibly closing Clifton Hills to help with crowding, while a county commission vote on the Howard School plan is expected today. - ➤ Hamilton County Schools is exploring a partnership with Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise to build about 70 affordable housing units on its West 40th Street property for teachers and staff.
