  • Chattanooga native Ace Bailey, the Utah Jazz rookie drafted fifth overall, returned to Dalewood Middle School and donated a new outdoor basketball court to benefit students. The city honored him with a proclamation declaring Ace Bailey Day—recognizing his efforts to give back to his community.  Local 3 News
  • Foundation House Ministries helps Chattanooga mothers break addiction cycles by guiding them from hospital referral to rehab—so they can eventually reunite with their children. The nonprofit also offers a prayer room and thrift store to support lasting recovery and family healing.  News Channel 9

CRIME NEWS

  • False calls about active shooters have alarmed students nationwide and at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (where false alerts led to a police response and reports of four persons shot) while law enforcement and the FBI investigate the hoaxes.  Local 3 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • An audit by Hamilton County Auditor Chris McCullough found that commissioners did not always verify that discretionary funds were used properly—issues include incorrect mileage reimbursements and unapproved expenses for non-profit events. The audit recommends that commissioners repay ineligible reimbursements or add them to their W-2 by August 31 while county policies are updated—officials continue to address the matter.  News Channel 9

SPORTS NEWS

  • Chattanooga Lookouts, Erlanger Health, city leaders, and developers met yesterday to sign steel plates and reveal new logos for Erlanger Park— a new stadium that will open for the Lookouts' first home game on April 14.  Chattanooga Times Free Press
  • UTC added two Eastern Illinois transfers, Nick Coates and Kaelin Drakeford, in January to boost their defense ahead of Saturday's opener at Memphis. Coates will start at rover while Drakeford takes free safety—both bring game experience and aim to help the Mocs rebuild after losing 10 starters.  Chattanooga Times Free Press
