- ➤ A local ministry, Broken Healer Home, withdrew its application for a transitional home in an East Brainerd neighborhood after facing neighbor opposition and a denied rezoning request—now it is exploring alternative sites such as back-tax properties to support young adults aging out of foster care. - ➤ Hamilton County is calling for volunteers for the Halloween Trail Fest at Enterprise South Nature Park on October 10 and 11; interested helpers must sign up by October 3 to assist with decorations, build scenes, act in the trails, attend inflatables and paint faces. The event will run from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. — it will also include food trucks, a bonfire and trick or treating. Local 3 News

- ➤ A new AI study by UTK and tech firm TreisD will predict sinkholes on Chattanooga roadways after last month's historic flooding—local officials say a large sinkhole on Heritage Landing Drive may take up to six months to repair. News Channel 9
- ➤ A study published Wednesday in Nature links 55 heat waves from 2000 to 2023 to human-caused climate change driven by 180 major fossil fuel and cement producers, who are responsible for 57% of carbon emissions from 1850 to 2023. - ➤ After a Tuesday morning Walker County bus crash injured 10 children, local residents and experts urged lawmakers to require seatbelts on school buses—arguing that a failed bill and past tragedies show a need for stronger safety measures. Local 3 News
- ➤ Hamilton County commissioners debated moving weekly meetings from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. to allow more day workers to attend, a proposal that would cost taxpayers about $49,000 a year. They voted to study the idea further in the Rules and Legislation Committee meeting next week (including costs for clerk, sheriff’s office, and general government fees) (further details pending). - ➤ At Tuesday’s council meeting, the city budget provided a new Ladder 21 for the Chattanooga Fire Department, which is assigned to Station 21 on East Brainerd Road to close an emergency coverage gap — the department said the truck will improve firefighter safety and help save lives. Local 3 News
