- ➤ Christina Herndon of Chickamauga, known as the Goat Lady, uses her herd of goats to clear invasive plants from Maclellan Island—she makes a short boat ride from Erwin Marine to check on the work and the project has gained national media attention. - ➤ At a summit in Chattanooga by Thrive Regional Partnership, local leaders said Hurricane Helene changed their flood readiness plans and urged updates to old flood models — a move aimed at better protecting local neighborhoods. Chattanooga Times Free Press
- ➤ Fluffy white bugs called woolly aphids have been drifting on breezes in Chattanooga and causing mold on trees and cars—experts say the waxy coating lets them glide easily. The pests can be native or non-native and are usually kept in check by natural enemies—though heavy infestations may require treatment. Chattanooga Times Free Press

- ➤ Today, the City of Chattanooga activated traffic cameras at Orchard Knob Elementary and Brainerd High School and installed five smart streetlights at pedestrian crosswalks to boost safety for drivers and pedestrians. The cameras begin a 30-day warning period after which speed violators will be fined $50—city officials say the measures are designed to protect children. Local 3 News

- ➤ On Sunday at State Farm Stadium the Tennessee Titans fell behind by 15 points but rallied to beat the Cardinals 22-21—rookie Cam Ward threw for a season-high 265 yards as Arizona made key errors that ended a 10-game losing streak. Chattanooga Times Free Press
- ➤ UTC football coach Rusty Wright said the mostly young Mocs recovered from a tough early schedule and now are taking a bye week to heal and work on basic plays before facing six more games, including a home game against East Tennessee State on Oct 18—this break is meant to boost the team's readiness for the coming challenges.
