- ➤ On April 9th, 1947, Southern Coach Lines began the final mass transit trolley ride on the Boyce streetcar line at 11:40 p.m. in East Chattanooga—many riders gathered, prompting the company to add a second car for the event. Chattanooga Times Free Press
- ➤ Local writer and director Mark Anderson premiered his film Chattown Chatta at the Barking Legs Theater, where it shows interviews with people who lost their homes. The film aims to debunk misconceptions about homelessness in our community — where over 4,000 people are affected each year. News Channel 9

- ➤ Chattanooga police are asking the public for help finding 18 year old Alexis Pump who was last seen leaving her home at 12:40 p.m. Sunday wearing a red hoodie, blue gray pants and pink shoes—anyone with information is urged to call 423—698—2525. News Channel 9
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Hamilton County Schools found that students who attended district pre-K outperformed peers who did not attend regardless of economic background. At Hardy Elementary, teacher Shaquita Ruiz led a class exercise where young students identified the beginning sound of a word to show early reading skills. Chattanooga Times Free Press
- ➤ Chattanooga School for Liberal Arts principal Krystal Scarbrough is retiring at the end of the academic year after 16 years at the school and 30 years in Hamilton County schools. Mary Catherine Gatlin, current principal at Loftis Middle School, will take over as the school prepares to graduate its first senior class this May—Scarbrough said she plans to remain active in serving her community after retirement. - ➤ Officials said the $54 million state Route 60 project in Cleveland is more than 95% complete and will finish on Aug. 31. Crews will finalize grading, sidewalk and driveway work + install new traffic signals as drivers face temporary lane closures. Chattanooga Times Free Press

- ➤ The UTC women’s basketball team finished with a 17-15 record last season and will work to keep its core players, improve health and add a quality recruit for its 2025-26 campaign. - ➤ Chattanooga fitness instructor Jere Hartman leads a team of veterans who are training for a 2,800-mile row from California to Hawaii in June to raise awareness about veteran mental health. The five-member team trains in South Florida and New Jersey with a new sponsor—Chattanooga Bakery—to supply Moon Pies and fuel their 6,000-calorie daily needs as they ready their 2,000-pound boat. - ➤ Today, homecoming week begins for the Tennessee Volunteers as pitcher Liam Doyle and first baseman Andrew Fischer, who transferred from Ole Miss, join the team.
